DOWNTOWN REIMAGINED

NOVEMBER PIC UPDATE

The Town recently held our final public information centre (PIC) for the Downtown Reimagined Visioning Study. The presentation boards can now be viewed here under the "Draft Documents - Quick Links" section on the side of this project page.

Please be advised that the parking situation proposed in the concept plan is still to be determined. Currently the Town is assessing a couple of options and whether the best plan moving forward is a "permanent" on-street parking scenario, or a "flexible/shared space" parking scenario.

What's Happening?

The Town of Grimsby along with our consultant, WSP Canada Inc., will be hosting a public information meeting to gather input and feedback regarding the Town of Grimsby’s Downtown Reimagined study. This session is one of the final steps towards the development of a vision for the Downtown public realm. This is intended to be informal and will allow guests to review the material and interact with members of the project team.

Why Your Input Matters:

Your input has been a crucial component in the development of the overall vision to date, and as this is a community driven study, our team is seeking to gather additional insight from businesses, residents and visitors of the Downtown core. The material that will be presented is a culmination of the work done to date, and the feedback and input collected throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, the project team will outline the next steps required in order to bring the project to completion.

Exciting transformation is coming to Downtown Grimsby!

The Town of Grimsby is gearing up to work with the community and stakeholders to update the vision for Downtown Grimsby's public realm. The foundation for this project is built upon the 2009 Community Improvement Plan (CIP) document, as well as the supporting documents used to create the CIP; Downtown Master Plan (2009), and the Downtown Design Guidelines (2010). The guiding documents are in need of a refresh and we want you to be a part of it. We will engage the public and stakeholders in order to advance this significant community project. A new watermain is being planned for downtown in 2023 and this infrastructure project will be used as the opportunity to reimagine downtown Grimsby.

The project limits are focused on Main Street, from Christie Street and Mountain Street to the west and Elm Street to the east.

The Town has received funding through Niagara Region’s Public Realm Investment Program to construct a temporary parklet in our Downtown core. A parklet is a tactical urbanism concept and is considered ‘pop-up’ and ‘temporary’ and a method to use a short term project as a way to inform long term plans.
