About the Project
Grimsby's Official Plan project is an exciting opportunity to define how the Town will grow to help create a vision for the future. An Official Plan is a document that directs future Town policies on how land is used, developed, and redeveloped in the community. This includes important policies and actions on housing, climate change, sustainability, transportation, servicing and infrastructure, along with natural heritage.
The Plan determines where houses, stores, parks, and other land uses will be built or redeveloped; protects our natural areas and resources; outlines heritage policies; and directs the construction of new infrastructure like sewer, water, and roads.
The current Official Plan was first written in 2009. With so many changes occurring and more expected on the horizon, there is a need to review the Plan so it meets both the current and future needs of Grimsby residents.
