Downtown Reimagined Project Update – September 18, 2026

Night work along Main Street East continued this week between Kingsway Boulevard and Robinson Street, and watermain has now been installed the full length of this stretch. There will be no work tonight, September 18, so crews will resume Monday night, September 21, for approximately two to three more nights to finish the remaining branch connections at Kingsway and Rossmore and the last of the service installations.

At the Lions Pool lot, stockpiled material was consolidated and the parking lot cleaned up ahead of the Terry Fox Run on September 20. The remaining material will be hauled off-site over the next one to two weeks during daytime hours.

Once this stretch wraps up, crews will transition from night work to daytime operations. Timing is still being finalized, and we’ll share updates as more information becomes available. Because crews cannot move directly from an overnight shift into daytime work the following day, there will be a one-day pause in construction during the transition.

Work will then move to Main Street West, between Forty Mile Creek and Patton Street, where one lane of alternating two-way traffic will be maintained.
