About the Project

The Grimsby Public Library (GPL) is creating a new Strategic Plan to help guide library services, priorities, and operations for the next five years (2026–2030). This plan will help ensure GPL continues to meet the evolving needs of the Grimsby community – today and into the future.

To support this work, GPL has engaged Nordicity, an independent consulting firm with expertise in public libraries, community engagement, and strategic planning.

The Strategic Plan will reflect the expanding role of public libraries today – from digital collections and accessible reading formats, to creative technologies, flexible community spaces, and interactive programs for all ages. As community expectations shift, libraries continue to adapt, and this plan will help ensure GPL is well positioned for the future.

How the Plan is Being Developed

The planning process includes conversations with Library and Town leadership, community organizations and local partners, library users, and the broader public across Grimsby. In addition to community input, Nordicity will be reviewing community data and trends to better understand how Grimsby is changing – and how it may continue to evolve in the years ahead.

Together, this community input, research, and analysis will inform a Strategic Plan that sets clear priorities and directions for GPL’s future services, spaces, partnerships, and community impact.

Get Involved

Your input will help shape GPL’s priorities and direction for the years ahead. We look forward to hearing your perspectives and ensuring community voices are reflected in the Library’s next Strategic Plan.

An engagement station will be set up in the Library starting March 16. Stop by and share your thoughts during your next visit!

Nordicity will also be hosting a series of community pop-ups across Grimsby on March 16:

  • 2:00 - 3:30 PM - GBF Community Services
  • 3:45 - 5:00 PM - Peach King Centre
  • 5:30 - 7:00 PM - West Niagara YMCA

These pop-ups are a chance to drop by, learn more about the project, and share your ideas for the future of GPL.
