Consultation has concluded

This project page is for residents of the Grimsby Beach neighbourhood in the immediate area of the common visitor traffic, regarding some of the concerns expressed with traffic and visitors to the area.

On Wed May 26 a team of staff visited and walked the area with 2 local residents. Staff have also reviewed several emails from residents regarding some ongoing concerns.

The following content outlines some of the suggestions that staff are offering. All residents are invited to complete a survey (bottom of this page) to share their thoughts and feedback.

One Way Streets

Staff have developed a plan to improve the vehicle flow in this area. The following illustration shows the proposed plan:

We have also learned that google maps does not acknowledge some of the one way streets, which is likely also causing confusion, so our team is working on exploring to address that.

Parking

There have also been some parking concerns expressed. The following shows a proposed option to further manage parking:

Visitor Information

Staff have prepared some additional information on the Town of Grimsby website to address some important information when visiting Grimsby Beach. We know that our website gets a fair number of hits for beaches and Grimsby beach, so we are hoping that this page will have some fairly high visibility. We will also be working on Search Optimization, so that the page comes up as one of the top websites for people that Google search Grimsby Beach.

One of the ideas that seems to have some good interest is to have signs in the Grimsby Beach area with a QR code for more information. This page would provide information about the area, and also provide guidance for respectful visits to the area. These signs could be placed as you enter the Grimsby Beach area and in other strategic locations to deter visitors from entering private property.

  • This survey is for the residents of Grimsby Beach, in the areas between Lake St and Lake Ontario, between Betts Ave and Marr Avenue.
Registration with the Lets Talk Grimsby page is not required to complete this survey.
2 responses per address are permitted, and only valid addresses will be retained.  This allows both a land owner and a tenant to complete the survey.

This survey is in response to the concerns and challenges that are occurring in the Grimsby Beach community related to visitors to the area.  The survey outlines some suggested plans of action from staff, based upon some of the feedback received by the local residents.  We realize that these actions may not address all concerns, but we are hopeful that they address some of the most pressing concerns.

The survey is open from Friday, June 4 - Tuesday, June 15, 2021
